Ukshini: The association in the Ahtisaari Package was to convince Russia to accept independence

The association in the Ahtisaari package was made to convince Russia to accept Kosovo's independence, according to former diplomat Sylë Ukshini.

Russia had vetoed a proposed resolution by the European members of the Security Council, Germany and the United States, which was intended to replace Security Council resolution 1244 to pave the way for the entry into force of the Ahtisaari plan and completion within 120 days of the UN mission in Kosovo. 

"It is speculated that this one, not this one, made the Association. No no, the Association was in Ahtisaari's package. But one thing should not be forgotten because here people do not have institutional memory or expect to read the documents. The association was designed and all the arrangements for the Serbs were designed as favors for the Serbian side so that Russia, as a negotiator, would not issue a veto in the Security Council. With the passing of the Ahtisaari package to the Security Council, we became part of the international system. Russia played well. He did not let us declare independence and be part of the system", said Ukshini in KTV's "Konfront".

As Ukshini said, Serbia has been diplomatically strong and has used all the bonuses it received from this package.

"Serbia used the so-called 'Swedish table', received all the bonuses that were for the Serbian side in the Ahtisaari package. This has meant that the internationals are going astray here, the moment they receive those bonuses, they have an obligation to the state of Kosovo. But Serbia took the favors and said that we have no responsibility towards the state of Kosovo", stated Ukshini.

Sopi shows how the north turned into a crime enclave and who it suits

Analyst Agim Sopi has shown how the north of Kosovo turned into an enclave for crime and to whom this has benefited. 

Sopi said in KTV's "Konfront" that Serbia used this situation created in the north as a political instrument for blackmail against the international community and the Albanians. 

"...An enclave of organized crime and gangs was created, which Serbia then used as a political instrument for blackmail against the international community and of course against the Albanians. Why did the international community create such an enclave, because the Iber Bridge is the Iber River and the Iber River was envisioned as a border, a natural border in case Kosovo became independent. You know that with the future of KFOR, independence was not guaranteed here, it happened thanks to the commitment of the USA and the Bush administration", said Sopi. 

He said that the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, is using the north as a card before the elections. 

"Kurti has not shown success in economic, cultural, health and educational development, not to mention. All the areas that have promised have either stagnated or unfortunately regressed. Kurt is left with the seventh priority in the electoral campaign, as the first priority is the talks with Serbia. Everything has been invested in restoring sovereignty to the north. Such a letter before the elections cannot be dismissed. He plays that card. Should he play games without borders for electoral purposes in these very delicate and fragile times, I think not", said Sopi. 

Demaku criticizes the opposition: It has been tanned all summer

The panelist of "Konfront", Dafina Demaku, has criticized the opposition in Kosovo, saying that it has remained silent throughout the summer against the events and "is tanned". 

"I am very opposed to the fact that the opposition watched while tanning and standing. Many things have happened and the opposition has not had any reaction, attitude or anything. But why does the opposition owe Prime Minister Kurti for sitting down with him and since then he has done a job that is not going well. "Kurti is the politician who received the most massive votes in the post-war history, promising that everything will be fixed," said Demaku on KTV's "Konfront".

Ukshini: This dialogue has failed, either the team or the footballers must be changed

Former diplomat Sylë Ukshini said that the form and dynamics of how the dialogue went means failure and that according to him something must change.

"The dialogue after 13 years has started at the bridge and has returned to the bridge. This dialogue with this dynamic, with this form, with this approach, we must admit that it has failed and something must be done. It's like a football coach, when he doesn't walk, when there are no goals, something has to change - either the team or the footballers", said Ukshini in KTV's "Konfront".

As Ukshini has said, if the Ibri Bridge is not opened until spring, then the internationals must give some answers to Kosovo.

"If the bridge is not opened until spring, it remains for the internationals to tell us and only us what the clauses of the Helsinki Agreement are, what has been achieved? Because something smells that in this part they don't want to let the Albanians pass", added the former diplomat.
