The Chairman of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica, Nexhat Uglanin, has expressed citizens' dissatisfaction with the energy company "Elektrosever", accusing it of not fulfilling its obligations under the agreement.
According to him, citizens and businesses are overwhelmed with high bills, while the company is not showing transparency.

Letter to the Reader — Why We're Asking for Your Support Contribute"Elektrosever did not adhere to the agreements with the neighborhood representatives. There are five thousand complaints about disconnection warnings for non-payment, of which 4200 are from Serbs," Uglanin said on KTV's "60 Minutes".
He added that bills are only distributed once every seven to eight months, which makes them very high for consumers, while there is no separation of day and night tariffs like in other parts of Kosovo.
"There is no programming for cheap and expensive electricity. There is great dissatisfaction from citizens. We are willing to pay for the energy, but 'Elektrosever' should be more transparent. There are no announcements, there are no negotiations and they do not participate in the meetings of the Municipal Assembly. The government must act. We do not know what agreement Elektrosever has with our institutions," he stressed.
Citizens of northern Kosovo had not paid for electricity since 1999. For years, these debts were covered by consumers in other parts of Kosovo, then by KOSTT and by grants from the Government of Kosovo.
In 2023, ERO decided to release KOSTT from this obligation, as within the framework of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, the company "Elektrosever" took over the supply and billing of consumers in the north.
“Elektrosever”, registered under the laws of Kosovo, is owned by Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS). The company started distributing bills in early 2024.
