Trump complains about not receiving Nobel Peace Prize for Kosovo-Serbia agreement

Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has complained about not receiving a Nobel Peace Prize for his work in reaching Washington's agreement for economic normalization between Kosovo and Serbia during his first term as president.

On Friday, Trump was asked about a suggestion that he deserves a Nobel Prize if he can end the Iran-Israel fighting.

"Well, they should have given me the Nobel for Rwanda-Congo or you could say Serbia and Kosovo... you could say for many. The big one is India-Pakistan... but they don't give it to me because they only give it to liberals," he said.

It is not the first time that Trump has cited the Washington Agreement of September 4, 2020, signed by Kosovo and Serbia at the White House, as a major achievement. The day before, he said that during his first term, the Kosovo-Serbia conflict “was about to explode into war.” He even accused former President Joe Biden of damaging the long-term perspective with wrong decisions, while warning that “he will fix it again.”

The agreement in question was known as the economic normalization agreement and was about supporting energy issues, regional ties. It even contained a moratorium on membership in international organizations and a campaign to withdraw recognitions of Kosovo's independence.
