Totally convinced that he will ensure the majority for decision-making in the Assembly

The municipal leadership of Prizren has estimated that with a constructive approach it will reach the majority for decision-making in the Municipal Assembly. After the appointment of the directors, a member of the PDK has resigned, while the KDTP has also confirmed its position in the opposition.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, on Wednesday expressed his belief that the local governing coalition will secure the majority in the Municipal Assembly, despite the departure of a PDK assemblyman and the KDTP's position in the opposition. He emphasized that despite these developments, he will engage in dialogue with the various groups of parliamentarians in order to approve public policies that are in the interest of the citizens.

"I am optimistic that we will have enough votes to vote for the projects that are of interest for the development of the city of Prizren. I think that with cooperation, with talks, with a constructive approach, the willingness of the assembly members to voted the important issues for the future of our city", said Totaj.

The head of Prizren on Tuesday appointed 11 directors out of 13 that the local Executive has. On the same day, the PDK assemblyman, Kastriot Krasniqi, announced that he has irrevocably resigned from this political entity and that he will be an independent member of the highest local body. Meanwhile, the KDTP branch has announced through a communique that this time it will go to the opposition, since this was also the position of the party chairman.

Meanwhile, the first meeting of the Municipal Executive was held on Wednesday, after which Totaj presented his governing team.

"I can tell you that it is a good climate and an atmosphere that promises good developments in the future. I am optimistic that now we will start to directly address many needs and many issues, which the citizens have raised in time", declared Totaj.

He has affirmed that the other two directors will be appointed soon, after additional consultations. At the same time, he added that most of the heads of local departments meet the criteria set by him for appointment.

"As for the criteria that we have presented, in most cases I believe that they meet them. We have a case that may be disproportionate, with the Director of Health, but it was a compromise that had to be made, because the policy it also works through compromises. I believe that in cooperation with the staff there will be a good performance", Totaj asserted.

PDK in Prizren has entered into a coalition agreement with AAK and Nisma, which entities are represented in the Executive by 3 directors each. Of the 11 directors appointed in Prizren, 5 are women.
