The call for an extraordinary assembly of the Democratic League of Kosovo has once again brought to light divisions within the third largest parliamentary entity. Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku announced on Monday that the party's assembly meeting will be held on Thursday (July 30). The assembly was called at the request of party delegates, who have demanded Abdixhiku's departure after the June 7 elections.
And, the LDK's announcement of this Assembly has also brought divisions between camps within the party online. While Abdixhiku's critics have called the results under his leadership a failure, another part has called for "saving the party from the satellites of the Democratic Party of Kosovo."
The party's former vice-chair, Hykmete Bajrami, wrote on Monday about the party's results under Abdixhiku as chair.
"Since 2021, the LDK has gone through three elections and in all three it has ended as the third party. We have not scored victories even at the local level. These are not opinions. They are not interpretations. They are results. When results are missing once, one can talk about circumstances. When they are missing repeatedly, responsibility can no longer be placed on circumstances," she wrote, calling for "a new way of leadership." She said that there must be leadership that unites and does not retaliate.
Bajrami also said that the LDK should not be a reserve for anyone nor an appendage of other parties, but should enter the elections to win.

Abdixhiku calls for extraordinary LDK assembly
Precisely on this issue, former candidate for MP, Sokol Havolli, said that "Thursday is the day when LDK decides for LDK, not for LDK to be placed under the control of PDK satellites."
The elected MP, Arben Gashi, has called this Assembly a moment to determine the direction of the LDK. Gashi himself has called for Abdixhiku's removal, and on Monday he said that on Thursday the way politics is done will be determined.
These divisions and divisions have accompanied the LDK since the collection of signatures of delegates to dismiss Abdixhiku was initiated. Former vice-chairmen and senior figures of the LDK came out in favor of his dismissal. Abdixhiku described them as a group that aims to unite with the PDK.
All of this happened after the LDK came in third again on June 7. This party, unlike the December elections, increased its seats in the Assembly by three seats.
The LDK has held talks on the formation of institutions with the Vetëvendosje Movement, as the first party. The first negotiations have been described as optimistic by Abdixhiku himself, but also by VV. KOHA has learned that in the first meeting there was even an agreement in principle on the formation of institutions.

Immediately after around 150 delegates submitted signatures for an extraordinary assembly, Abdixhiku suspended negotiations with VV.
Meanwhile, the constitutive session of the Assembly will be held on August 6.
