Former President Hashim Thaçi did not attend Tuesday's court session in The Hague because, as the trial panel announced, he was not in good health and needed medical advice.
As soon as the session began, it went into recess and Thaçi's lawyer, Luka Misetic, said that he was informed by the secretary that Thaçi would not be coming and that he did not know anything more.
After that, presiding judge Charles Smith III said he was told he was unwell and needed to see a doctor, but that he was not aware that he would not be attending.
"The only communication was that he was not feeling well and needed to see a doctor," he said.
After that, Misetic was asked to communicate with Thaci to understand whether he would join or give permission for the session to continue without his presence.
Meanwhile, at Tuesday's session, another former leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Rexhep Selimi, is wearing a collar with Kosovo state motifs.
Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are accused of war crimes. All have pleaded not guilty./Oath for Justice
