Within the framework of the Tripartite Joint Declaration signed in 2025 by the Ministers of Defense of Kosovo, Croatia and Albania, a trilateral meeting was held on Tuesday at the level of Directors of Defense and Armaments Policies in Croatia.
The Kosovo delegation was led by the Director of Defense Policy, Faruk Geci. During the meeting, views were exchanged on the possibilities of advancing cooperation in the field of defense capabilities, cooperation between the defense industries of the signatory countries, as well as further steps for the implementation of the Declaration.
The announcement issued by the Ministry of Defense states that the declaration defines four main areas of further trilateral cooperation, which include promoting cooperation in the field of defense capabilities and the defense industry, increasing interoperability through education, training and joint exercises, addressing hybrid threats and strengthening resilience, as well as providing continued and full support for Euro-Atlantic integration.
Petkovic: Albania – Croatia – Kosovo cooperation, a direct threat to the stability of the region
The director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, has assessed that military cooperation between Albania, Croatia and Kosovo constitutes a dangerous precedent, contrary to Resolution 1244 and directed against Serbia.
"Cooperation between Albania, Croatia and Pristina in the field of defense is an activity that directly threatens the stability of the Western Balkans region, because it is clear that this cooperation is not motivated by economic interests or the need to contribute to regional prosperity, but by malicious intentions," he said.
Petkovic has urged Albania and Croatia to make efforts to make the Western Balkans a zone of progress and peace, instead of investing in destabilizing the region.
"Croatia and Albania, instead of investing in destabilizing the region, should make efforts to make the Western Balkans a zone of peaceful progress and prosperity and, in this regard, follow the policy of peace and economic development that Serbia strongly promotes and implements," said Petkovic.
Petkovic's reaction comes after a trilateral meeting was held today at the level of the directors of Defense Policy and Armaments in the framework of military cooperation between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo. The meeting was held in Croatia.
These three countries signed a trilateral declaration on cooperation in the field of defense and security in March 2025. Even then, Serbia had reacted similarly.
