Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Abelard Tahiri said that the five serious murders in the last 48 hours are the clearest reflection of the state's complete failure to protect the lives of citizens.
In a press conference held on Tuesday, Tahiri accused the outgoing government of putting the country in an alarming security situation, where criminal gangs are reigning, encouraged and protected by the government itself.
"Criminal gangs, drug traffickers, and loan sharks have become bold and have direct ties to the government, becoming part of a dangerous chain that has already linked crime to politics and other law enforcement institutions. The Democratic Party of Kosovo expresses its deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in these murders. We express our great concern for the failure of law enforcement bodies to establish law and order and guarantee the safety of our citizens," he said.
Tahiri has held the government responsible for the loss of these people's lives.
"The presence of these criminals such as Mefail Shkodra is undoubtedly that man was not invited by us from the opposition but by the government. With the power he takes from these people that we have today from these people, he has terrorized an entire city. This is not a coincidence. This is a clear connection of criminals.. The Government is directly responsible for the loss of these people," he added.

According to the PDK MP, this situation is a wake-up call for everyone.
"It should be the mission of each of us to free the state from the criminal gangs that are terrorizing our society today. The increase in the number of illegal weapons in the hands of our citizens is frightening. Today, we currently have about 250 thousand illegal weapons in our country. As PDK, in the new legislature, after the consolidation of institutions and the new government, we will initiate the amendment of the Criminal Code and relevant legislation to toughen the penalties for illegal possession of weapons. Anyone who possesses or uses weapons illegally must face prison, without exception. Kosovo cannot be a country where human life loses value. And, no, this is not just a political battle. It is a battle for life, for peace, for our children and for the future of the country," concluded Tahiri.
Tahiri also spoke about the Constitutional Court's decision on the constitutive session. He said that VV had an engagement with the Serb List in 2003 to elect a judge to the Constitutional Court.
"Kusari-Lila did not invite PDK but invited the Serbian List to elect a judge to the Constitutional Court... when the Constitutional Court issued a decision on inadmissibility (for the plenary session of July 13)... when we opposed this session, the CC rejected the request and made a decision in favor of VV and the reporting judge was Laban. By their standards, it is clear that the decision-making that took place in that session unfortunately had infiltration from another state," Tahiri said at the conference, while also commenting on the statements of VV officials that judge Radomir Laban, (who was the reporting judge in the case for the constitutive session), is a violation of the constitutional order of Kosovo and has connections to the Serbian BIA and the terrorist, Milan Radoićić.
Tahiri said that VV should have gone public when it had information about Laban.
He said that PDK also requests an investigation by the Prosecutor's Office into this case.
"For everyone, even the judge in question, because such suspicions must be followed by an epilogue of investigations. We cannot survive in a country where we simply talk and talk and there are no investigations. There must be investigations for the judge in question, for every citizen who may have suspicions. Investigations do not prevent anyone from doing their job in our institutions, investigations are carried out independently by the Special Prosecution, by our investigators, and there must be an epilogue. Is there anything true or not? If there is anything true, we have seen dangerous factors infiltrate the election of these institutions (the decisions from the July 13 session), the election of the Speaker of the Assembly and the institutions I mentioned, the adoption of the law on war crimes investigations, and many, many other issues that make decision-making in this very important court problematic. We continue to believe in honesty and in the work of the Constitutional Court," he concluded.
The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has ruled that the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo must elect the new head of the legislative body through open voting and within 30 days. In the announcement published last Friday, it is stated that the Constitutional Court has determined that the same candidate can only be voted for up to 3 times and that all deputies must participate in the vote.

The Constitutional Court's decision has been criticized by the winning party of the February elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement.
From April 15 to July 26, MPs held 54 constitutive session extensions, but failed. On May 1, the chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, changed the agenda, avoiding open voting and demanding the formation of a commission that would oversee the secret ballot for the speaker. This was opposed by the PDK, LDK, AAK and the Serbian List, which refused to propose a member for this commission.
