The accused in the murder of VB in 2023 in Podujeva, Arsim Syla, appeared before the Court on Monday to continue his defense regarding the murder which he is accused of having committed in complicity with his minor son, LS.
During the hearing, Syla gave his statement before the trial panel, answering questions from defense attorney Besnik Berisha.
He categorically denied the Prosecution's allegations that he had planned or instigated the criminal offense, stating that his stay at the supermarket where the incident occurred lasted about an hour and that after noticing the victim's car he decided to leave to avoid a confrontation. According to him, he had separated from the minor and returned home, while the boy had returned to the supermarket alone to buy food.
Syla emphasized that from his position he was unable to see any events due to physical obstacles inside the market, adding that he had only seen the deceased's car.
He stated that the minor had no intention of pursuing or committing a crime, but that his plans had been to go to the city to meet his girlfriend.
"There is no parent in the world who leads their child to such a serious act, to a crime that destroys their life forever. I am a parent, I raised them, I fed them with advice and education. I have stood behind them all their lives. Honorable jury, there is no parent in this world who allows their child to meet and face a criminal like the deceased and his group. If I knew or understood, I would prevent it at any cost or cost. Those bullets, without hitting me, would not hit Valmir either, because as far as I am concerned, VB would live another 100 years happily with his family," Syla said.
The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina on March 18, 2024 filed an indictment against the accused Arsim Syla, after the same, with the aim of revenge and due to a conflict he had earlier in 2022 with the now deceased VB and Sh.R., had ordered his minor son LS to deprive the now deceased VB of his life.
According to the indictment, on September 11, 2023, defendant Syla and his minor son LS had gone to the cafeteria of a supermarket in Podujeva, where at around 12:19 p.m. they had noticed the now deceased VB, entering the market together with his wife, the injured party LS, and their 4-year-old child. According to the indictment, defendant Syla and his son LS left the restaurant, where Syla directed the minor LS in the direction of the deceased VB, who followed him, while Syla continued to leave the premises.
At the moment when the deceased VB, his wife and child reached the dairy products section, the minor LS approached them from behind and initially shot them twice in the direction of the deceased.
