Members of the Serbian List have been involved in ongoing riots in the north, the Minister of Internal Affairs Xelal Sveçla said today.
Minister Sveçla made these statements on the occasion of the publication of the report "Security in the north of Kosovo after the terrorist attacks in Basnjka and the Ibër-Lepenc canal", while adding that the ongoing battle of the Kosovo authorities for pretending sovereignty in the northern part of the country , has unmasked Serbia's aspirations for the territory of Kosovo.
Svečla also said that Serbian parallel structures have cooperated with official Belgrade and have received orders from the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić and Milan Radočić.
He added that since 2023, such criminal acts have become more severe, according to him turning into attacks that only Russia has carried out in Ukraine, and Serbia in Kosovo.
"We count hundreds of attacks against the police, the media and citizens, and Serbia is behind all of these. The much-talked-about integration of Serbian parallel structures into our institutions, according to the Brussels agreement, has enabled the installation of structures that have reported to Serbia and Vučić, and received orders from them, being the case of our institutions... At the beginning of 2023 , until now, as not only us but the whole world has seen, such criminal acts have become more severe, turning into attacks that only Russia has carried out in Ukraine, Serbia in Kosovo," Sveçla said.
He also said that the Serbian List cannot say that it was not involved in attacks on KFOR members, where in May 2023, Serbian protesters in Zveçan clashed with members of the NATO mission in Kosovo. , leaving over 90 peacekeepers injured.
"Under the guise of political representatives of the Kosovo Serbs after the meetings with the Serbian president, Aleksander Vučić, the leaders of the Serbian List have been directly involved in the ongoing unrest there, while the people closest to them were active attackers of KFOR members, the Police and of our institutions. Lista Srpska cannot say that it was not involved in the attacks by KFOR members. Assistants, drivers, bodyguards of Lista Srpska have been identified and now some of them are on the run," he said.
That there is an increase in armed attacks against the Kosovo Police, said Skender Perteshi from the Kosovo Center for Security Studies.
"The main findings of the report are that, more than a year since the attack that took place in the village of Banjska, most of the individuals who were part of this attack are still at large in Serbia, have left Serbia. Likewise, the main leader, the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Milan Radojčić, has not yet been brought to justice. After October 2023, we have a high intensity and an increase in armed attacks against the Kosovo Police, local and central state institutions that are part of the north of the country, there are also attacks against the EULEX European mission and KFOR- and the civilian population", he said.
