publicist Veton Surroi has said that the Law on Specialized Chambers was political blackmail. He also said that the conditionality that was made to vote for the amendments to the Law in order to break the institutional deadlock was also blackmail.
"It was blackmail. The way it was voted. Even the way the Special Law was voted the first time was under blackmail. The Law on Specialized Chambers was political blackmail. In that political blackmail were the leaders of the PDK at the time, now some of them convicted in the first instance in The Hague. The way this process has developed has been political blackmail - either this law will be voted or we will enter a further political crisis," Surroi said on KTV's "Konfront". "...In blackmail operations there is no good solution, there are slightly worse solutions."
On October 6, the Kosovo Assembly voted shortly before midnight on the second reading of amendments to the Law on Specialized Chambers. The amendments were voted on shortly before the election of President Justina Shiroka-Pula.
