Through a reaction on Wednesday, the Kosovo Judicial Council condemned the attack and threat against the supervising judge of the Drenas Branch, at the Basic Court in Pristina, Shefqet Baleci.
Without providing details of the case, the KJC has said that such attacks on judges are unacceptable and intolerable.
"Any such act constitutes an attack on the justice system and the rule of law itself. The Judicial Council recalls that the safety of judges from attacks and threats is essential for the independence of the judiciary and in the fight against crime and negative phenomena. The KJC strongly supports judges in fulfilling their duties in an independent, impartial and professional manner, in the service of justice and the public interest," the reaction states.
The KJC has also called for an immediate investigation of the case and guarantees of protection for the safety of judges.
