Sudan has decided to recognize the Independence of Kosovo, President Vjosa Osmani announced on Saturday, after meeting with the Foreign Minister of this country, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
She has published a video on the social network X alongside Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ali Yousuf al-Sharif. In it, Osmani says that she received notification from Minister Yousuf that the President of Sudan has decided to recognize Kosovo and that the two countries will establish diplomatic relations.
"It was a pleasure and an honor to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan. In our first meeting, he informed me that the President of Sudan has recognized the Republic of Kosovo and that we will establish diplomatic relations between our two countries," said Osmani. "Thank you on behalf of the people of the Republic of Kosovo. This is the beginning of a wonderful partnership."
Meanwhile, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef said he looks forward to deepening interstate relations. He and Osmani thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the Forum.
“I am honored and privileged to be sent by my president this afternoon, and after meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which was a good omen for this gathering that we have here in Turkey, and that we decided to recognize your beautiful country. I am very honored that on behalf of the peace-loving people of Sudan, we recognize your country as a member of the international community…. I would also like to convey the heartfelt congratulations of my president and colleagues who are here with me now, and we hope that this will be the beginning of a cooperation that we in Sudan need very much, because you are, in fact, a small country but you are full of experience and knowledge. And after talking to you now it seems that we will have very strong bilateral relations. Your country has also had a war and we have serious problems and we are a peace-loving country and we will address you in the future, in the very near future. And of course we are honored to have you as a guest in Sudan and I am sure that we will start "We have visitors. We have our ambassador here. Accept my congratulations and accept my very sincere commitment to developing good relations with your country," the Sudanese minister said.

Two recognitions in less than a month, Kosovo is recognized by 119 countries
Sudan is a country in Africa. It has a population of about 50 million. It is the third largest country on this continent. The state of Sudan has been in a war between the army and paramilitary forces for two years now. This country is in crisis – with extreme hunger. Almost half of the population faces extreme hunger. Since the war began two years ago, about 20 thousand people have died.
The recognition from Sudan comes a few weeks after the recognition that was confirmed by Kenya. Kosovo is now recognized by 119 countries.

Reactions in Kosovo were immediate. The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said that recognition is welcome, while adding that for Kosovo, progress in recognizing its sovereignty is crucial.
"In this case, the Presidency was on duty to strengthen Kosovo's international subjectivity. This step should continue at a rapid pace," he wrote on social media.

Sudan recognized Kosovo "on important anniversary" with Serbia
While former President Behgjet Pacolli, who announced the recognition from Kenya weeks ago, said that the recognition from Sudan is fantastic news.
"As announced, recognition by Kenya as one of the most powerful states on the African continent is fueling a wave of recognition for our country," he wrote on Facebook.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has described the new recognition as one more friendship for Kosovo.
"Our state has been given a new recognition of our people, one more friendship. We welcome the recognition from the state of Sudan, which comes a few weeks after that from Kenya. We hope that the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two states will expand and strengthen further. Congratulations to the citizens of our Republic and thank the President of Sudan for this important decision for the relationship between our two countries, as well as our President for her commitment and our friends and partners for their continued support," he wrote on Facebook.

Osmani meets the president of the state that does not recognize Kosovo
The Democratic League of Kosovo has called the recognition "powerful evidence of the continued commitment of peace-loving states to the principles of freedom, peace and the right of the people of Kosovo to independence."
"The recognition by Sudan constitutes an important moment for Kosovo's diplomacy, demonstrating mutual trust in the principles of peace, stability and international cooperation. This moment also marks a new chapter that comes as a result of the unstoppable efforts of Kosovo's international friends. LDK reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the international subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo, to deepening diplomatic ties and to advancing the strategic interests of our country in the international arena," the LDK statement said.
