Students again protest in front of MEST for student scholarships

Students of the Faculty of Education and students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences are protesting in front of the Ministry of Education against the competition of this ministry for student scholarships.

Student representatives from these faculties have asked Minister Shyqiri Bytyqi to cancel the competition, otherwise they have said that they will not stop the protests, Koha Ditore reports.

The day before, students of the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Philosophy and some departments of the Faculty of Medicine also protested in front of MEST.

Edison Bibaj from the Council of the Faculty of Arts has confirmed that from today the students of this faculty have boycotted the lesson.

The students of other faculties have also warned of boycotting the lesson if the competition for scholarships is not cancelled.

The Ministry of Education, in the competition announced on October 28, has planned to allocate scholarships only for some fields of study such as Agriculture, Veterinary, the fields of the Faculty of Mathematical-Natural Sciences, General Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Technical, as well as Applied Sciences . Through a press release on Monday, MEST explained that this year it has chosen to support only faculties that prepare deficit cadres.

The student representatives were received in a meeting by Minister Shyqiri Bytyqi, but they left after a few minutes saying that they had not reached any agreement. The students have given the minister until tomorrow to cancel the competition, on the contrary, from Thursday they have warned of continuation of protests and boycott of the teaching process.
