The Special Court has announced that the former head of the Organization of War Veterans, Hysni Gucati, has been released on parole, for the remainder of the sentence given by the Panel of the Court of Appeal, or for the remainder of the sentence of four years and three month.
Gucati was convicted in May 2022 after accusations of obstructing official persons in the performance of official duties, intimidation during criminal proceedings and violation of the secrecy of proceedings.
In Tuesday's announcement by Special, it is said that in the decision on conditional release, "reflections on his own actions during his detention in the DHSK detention facility and that his behavior had changed over time" were taken into account.
Judge Ekaterina Trendafilova has also emphasized Gucat's apology and his promise that he would not be involved in other actions that could be characterized as criminal offenses.
The special, however, has said that if Gucati does not fulfill any of the conditions defined in the decision, the decision will be annulled.

It is the first time that Special has reduced or changed the decision.
"The procedure for reducing, modifying or changing the decision as provided in Article 51(2) of the Law is an individual procedure. When the convicted person has served two-thirds of the sentence, he or she meets the criteria for consideration for a reduction, modification or change of the sentence, but does not have the right to have the sentence reduced, modified or changed", says the clarification of the Special .
