Presevo

The polling stations will open at 07:00 and close at 20:00. Voters must have a valid ID card or passport, while official notification of voting is not necessary as the only essential condition is registration on the electoral roll. A total of 18 lists are competing in these elections.

According to the 2022 census in Serbia, 61,687 Albanians declared their presence in the country. Political and civil society activists in the Valley have continuously raised the alarm about the policies applied by the Serbian state, which aim to ethnically cleanse this part of the country through the process of de-identifying addresses.

The joint list of Albanian political parties in the Valley is called the “Albanian Coalition.” The agreement to run together was reached in the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, as announced in late September by Prime Minister Albin Kurti himself.

The unification of all Albanian political parties in the Valley, whenever it has happened, has translated into better electoral results, and greater representation in numbers in Serbia's 250-seat Parliament. But when they were not together, the only one who usually represented them in recent years has been Shaip Kamberi.

For the first time, in 2020, all Albanian parties from the Presevo Valley came together and competed on a single list. It was also the first time that Albanians secured three seats in the Serbian Parliament.

The current President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, resigned from the post of head of state of Serbia on the evening of September 27. He resigned to participate in the race for the post of prime minister as the candidate of his party, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

However, these elections are rarely considered to be a sure bet for Vučić's victory. The Student List is leading in some polls and in others it is very close to the percentage of Vučić's list.
