The agenda sent by the Directorate for Media and Public Relations of the Assembly includes two items: the election of the Speaker of the Assembly and the election of the Deputy Speakers of the Assembly.
The Assembly, which emerged from the June 7 elections, has exceeded the constitutional deadline of 30 days for its constitution since the day of certification. Opposition parties have continuously criticized the chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, and the Vetëvendosje Movement, the winning party, for not inviting the session.
On two occasions, MPs gathered for the constitution, but VV leader Albin Kurti requested additional time to negotiate on the issue of the president.
According to him, without an agreement for the president, new elections would be inevitable. The sessions in question were held beyond the 30-day deadline, and another 30 days have already passed.
Dehari has called for the continuation of the session for September 9, following the VV-LDK agreement on the president, even though 6 LDK deputies have opposed it and the numbers are currently not enough for voting in the first two rounds.
