New political entities may be added to the list of 22 political parties and 3 coalitions that announced their participation in the June 7 snap elections by May 7.
Today, May 10 at 24:00, the CEC will close the deadline for new political entities, such as civic initiatives and independent candidates, to apply for certification of participation in the next parliamentary elections.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi said a day earlier that only new political entities, such as coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates, will be subject to certification, but not political parties, which the law on general elections considers automatically certified.
"Until May 10, new political entities (coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) must submit online to the CEC, respectively to the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control, the application for certification for participation in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo. According to the Law on General Elections, a political party is automatically considered certified, therefore this process will only apply to new political entities, which in this case are coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates," said Elezi.
Meanwhile, two days later, until May 12, all political entities have time to submit online to the CEC the list of names of candidates with whom they will compete in the Assembly elections.

No candidate list submitted so far for the June 7 elections
"On May 12, the 11-day deadline for political entities (political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) to submit the list of names of candidates for deputies to be certified for participation in the early elections of June 7 ends. The submission of the list of names of candidates for deputies must be done through the electronic platform and the procedure is similar to the last elections held in December last year," he said.
In the last parliamentary elections, held on December 28, the Central Election Commission certified 1,180 candidates for deputies from 24 political entities. Of these, 18 were political parties, 3 coalitions, 2 civic initiatives, and 1 independent candidate.
So far, out of 53 political parties registered in Kosovo, 22 of them have notified the CEC that they will participate in the June 7 elections, 9 others have announced their non-participation, and 3 different coalitions have been formed.

Kosovski Savez; 17. Balliste Party; 18. Civic Party for Social Welfare; 19. Egyptian Liberal Party; 20. Alliance for the Future of Kosovo; 21. Party of Democratic Action; and 22.
