Three members leave the room, KJC meeting fails

KJC

The meeting failed. Kosovo Judicial Council in the absence of a quorum.

Three members left the room, which made it impossible for the meeting to continue. The failure came after there was no consensus among the members on removing an item from the agenda, while some others demanded that the resignations item be the first.

The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) met at 13:00 PM and on the agenda was a request from Acting President Albulena Haxhiu as well as from Serbian judges and support staff to withdraw the resignations offered in 2022.

A month ago, Haxhiu wrote to the KJC, requesting that an epilogue be given to the resignations of Serb judges in the north.

Days earlier, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council rejected requests to withdraw the resignations of Serbian prosecutors, and a day later, Haxhiu approved their resignations from the system.

This prompted major reactions from embassies and the European Union.

Prosecutors, judges, police officers, and mayors in the north resigned at the end of 2022, as a sign of revolt against developments in this part of Kosovo.

While the resignations of the police officers were accepted, those of the prosecutors and judges were left pending until now.
