Schools are not closed

The Ministry of Education has ruled out what it has called radical measures in pre-university education. While more and more cases of infection are being registered among children, Deputy Minister Dukagjin Pupovci has stated that vaccination, distance, masks are the best measures. He confirmed that a large number of students tested positive even today.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has ruled out the further tightening of measures in primary and pre-primary education institutions.

Despite the increasing number of infections among children, Deputy Minister Dukagjin Pupovci has said that closing schools is not a solution.

"There are no coercive measures other than compliance with existing measures and vaccination. A radical measure could be to close schools for a certain period, but we do not see that in this form any problem is solved except that children are harmed because they will return to school again in two weeks, three weeks and in two or three weeks other times, we will not be able to introduce new measures except for distance, masks and the invitation for vaccination", he said.

While he called on all people over 12 years old to be vaccinated, he showed that a large number of positive cases with the virus were registered even today among students.

"Regarding the cases of infection yesterday, 420 teachers and 66 staff members were currently infected, while among the students we had 1913 students. I have to tell you that the results that came out in the afternoon have brought new data then that we noticed that there are almost 10 people in the age group 19-900 and we think that most of them should be students either in secondary schools low or medium high", he further announced.

Prishtina has the largest number of student cases, 974, while over 100 are in Peja, Mitrovica, Gjakovë.

From Thursday's data, according to Pupovc, out of 781 schools nationwide, 15 continue online learning.

Since MESTI is not informed every day about the number of cases, according to Deputy Minister Pupovci, this institution aims to build an online system in the future from which the ministry and the public can be informed about the number of infected people in pre-university education.
