RTK union writes to Kurti, asks for urgent intervention regarding salaries

RTK employees

The Radio Television of Kosovo Workers' Union has sent a letter to the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, for urgent intervention in the allocation of the RTK budget.

The letter states that RTK is in a deep institutional and financial crisis, while the Union has mentioned that the institution is without a functional board, the position of the general director is vacant, and that RTK's management is being maintained by an acting director.

"Currently, over 700 RTK employees have been left without salaries, and behind them are just as many families who depend on this income for their daily living. This situation has become unbearable, and endangers not only the well-being of the employees, but also the normal functioning of the public information service in the country," the letter states.

The union further wrote that it demands that, in line with wage increases in other sectors, the budget for RTK's salaries be increased.

"We as a Union are not seeking anything more than concrete and legal solutions. We are not interested in clashes or political interpretations — what we are interested in is the payment of the honest work of RTK workers, who have performed their duties with dedication for months, despite the difficulties," the Union said.

He has also sent a letter to the Parliament, also requesting urgent measures for RTK.

"We request the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to take urgent measures to resolve this situation and to ensure the legal and uninterrupted functioning of RTK, in accordance with the law and public responsibility towards citizens."
