The Serbs from northern Mitrovica will not accept the violent integration with southern Mitrovica, declared today for the Serbian news agency Tanjug, the vice president of the Serbian List, Igor Simic, speaking about the initiative for the unification of the city in Iber, reports Koha.net.
"Serbs from the northern part of Mitrovica will not accept the forced integration of Mitrovica into any system, because no one wants to exchange something of good quality with something that does not work", Simic is quoted as saying.
He emphasized that the northern part of Mitrovica "is a dam for the infiltration of extremists from 1999 until now and thus the municipalities of Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zveçan as well as the economic potentials of Ujman and Trepçë have been preserved.
"There is no economy in the southern part of the city. "Trepca, which is left in the northern part, is functioning normally, it is a solvent company with Serbian management that pays its workers' income from its own profits," Simic emphasized.
In the end, he recalled that the chairman of the Serbian List, Goran Rakić, said in his statement that "Serbs will never accept ethnic cleansing and that they have proven this over the past 20 years by standing together and courageously in support of the state of Serbia".
