Liridona Sijarina, activist of the Collective for Feminist Thought and Action, stated that
"We have not seen a political act from the Government of the Assembly. We talked to VV MPs who often even knew that there was a strike, they walked and did not notice the lack of technical workers because some of them do not consider them as people since they are cleaners who provide them with a clean environment and workable", declared Sijarina.
She further added that the workers' salary of 250 euros does not meet their basic requirements, adding that they demand that the salary be 550 euros.
"The 'Schafberger' company does not even lift a finger for these workers and will not respond to their demands, and this shows the tyranny of private companies. They demand a salary increase to 550 euros, they don't demand a minimum salary, but a decent one so that they can live with dignity", said Sijarina.
The Collective's activist added that the private company that contracted these workers brought in some others to do the work.
"They (workers) have shown that they live in miserable conditions. The company treats them like no worse, they work even when they are sick because they have to go to work, your rights are not respected. There are 19 women, 14 of them are on strike and two are working. There are three new workers that the company has brought and they do the work. The minimum wage does not even meet the basic requirements that these women have. All that building is maintained by these women and the functioning of the Assembly is made possible by their work. In response to the strike, the women received a blank communication that they made with the Assembly and the officials. The company 'Schafberger' has remained indifferent", she added.
Sijarina said that these workers are at risk of being unemployed.
