About 800 fines are issued to companies for violating workers' rights

The Chief Inspector of the Central Labor Inspectorate (IQP), Hekuran Nikçi, announced in an interview for Ekomomia Online, that in the first six months of this year, 787 fines were imposed on legal entities that violated the rights of female workers. 

He said that in this period 5,960 legal entities were inspected. According to him, the largest fines imposed are related to the labor relationship, while as far as the sectors are concerned, the most fines are in the construction, gastronomy and production sectors. 

"For January-June of this year 2024, the IQP has inspected 5 legal entities, which is 960 more than for the same period last year. Throughout this period, the Central Labor Inspectorate has imposed 2,285 punitive measures or fines, or 787 more fines than for the same period last year 385. The labor relationship is the one for which the Labor Inspectorate imposes the most fines, it means that it originates from the labor law", Nikçi told EO.

As for the violations that were found, Nikçi said that they are related to unilateral termination of the contract, non-compensation of overtime hours, non-compensation of annual holidays, medical holidays and non-compensation of hours during official holidays. 

"The violations are: unilateral termination of the contract, non-compensation of overtime hours, non-compensation of annual holidays, medical holidays, and non-compensation of hours during official holidays. In the increase in the number of inspections that falls to us as the Central Labor Inspectorate, we have raised the capacity, we have increased the presence, ie we have tripled our presence in the field, we have doubled the number of inspectors. We have also managed to identify more violations than last year", said Nikçi.

However, despite the violations, Nikçi said that for the six-month period there was no case of death at the workplace./EO
