The USA for Vucic's measures: Kosovo is a sovereign state, refrain from unilateral actions

The US has called on Serbia and Kosovo to refrain from inflammatory rhetoric, uncoordinated actions and legislative acts that contradict normalization efforts, when it was asked by KOHA to comment on the measures that Serbia presented a few days ago for Kosovo.

The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, presented five measures and seven demands for Kosovo a few days ago as preconditions for a "return to genuine dialogue". Among the measures, he announced the declaration of Kosovo through the "special social zone" law, resistance of parallel institutions and the opening of offices near the border with Kosovo to provide services to the Serbian citizens of the north. 

Asked to comment on these measures, the US Embassy in Kosovo reiterated its position in favor of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, mediated by the European Union, as it recalled that Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state and that it wants to see in international structures.

"The United States of America continues to strongly support the EU-facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia as a way to achieve peaceful and productive relations between the two states. The future of both countries is in the European institutions; the EU-facilitated process is the only way forward. We once again call on Serbia and Kosovo to refrain from further escalating rhetoric, uncoordinated actions or legislative acts that conflict with the normalization of relations or endanger stability and security", the answer says. "Kosovo is a sovereign, independent and multi-ethnic state, which we want to see fully integrated into the Euro-Atlantic and international structures".
