“The Specialist Chambers are a judicial institution with a mandate set out in the Exchange of Letters, the Constitution of Kosovo and the Law on Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office. The Court is focused on ensuring safe, independent, impartial, fair and efficient criminal proceedings, while at the same time providing strong protection for witnesses and victims. Contrary to the false information about the Court that is constantly being disseminated, the Specialist Chambers guarantee the rights to a fair trial for the accused in accordance with internationally recognized standards,” she said, among other things, in the video, adding that the judges in this court are from European Union countries and that they perform their duties “independently, impartially and conscientiously, in the service of justice and the rule of law.”
According to her, judges implement the international conventions mentioned in the Constitution of Kosovo.
Trendafilova said that judicial decisions are reviewed through appeals. She also said that "no one can dictate to judges how to interpret and apply the law."
“As an independent judicial institution, the Specialist Chambers exercise their mandate without political considerations, preferences, influence or interference. The Specialist Chambers are firmly committed to upholding the highest international standards in carrying out the mandate entrusted to them with the expectation that all parties involved will fulfill their respective obligations to guarantee the rule of law,” she added.
