Daniel Serwer, an American professor at Johns Hopkins University, has spoken about the dynamics of political developments related between Kosovo and Serbia, saying that the dialogue should be oriented towards more practical issues.
"There are many practical issues that must be resolved between Kosovo and Serbia. I believe that the technical dialogue that existed before 2013 was clearly much more successful than the political dialogue that has taken place since then. So I don't believe that we should limit ourselves to technical or economic issues, but that there are many practical issues that would also be technical and economic that could find solutions", said Serwer on RTK.
Serwer emphasized that it is very clear that Serbia and Kosovo are not interested in the normalization of relations between the two states.
"I think it is quite clear that neither the authorities of Serbia nor the authorities of Kosovo are ready for the normalization of relations. The goal of the dialogue should be a permanent legal solution between Kosovo and Serbia. But it is clear that we are still not ready for such a thing", added Serwer.
As for how the elections in the European Union will affect the dialogue process, he emphasized that it is difficult to talk about the names that will come to the head of the EU.
"I think that Borrell has not been so successful in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. However, the change in the EU is welcomed, especially if the change is made with a person who is closer to Kosovo", stated Serwer.
