Serbia raises the Army and Police to the highest level of combat readiness

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has ordered the Serbian Army and the Police to be on the highest level of combat readiness, reports the Serbian state television "RTS".

"The President of Serbia, as commander-in-chief, has ordered that the Armed Forces of Serbia be at the highest level of combat readiness, namely readiness up to the level of the use of armed forces," said the Minister of Defense of Serbia, Milosh Vucevic.

He said that he is "raising the Serbian Army to the highest level of action, protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and protecting all the citizens of Serbia, and preventing terror against Serbs wherever they are".

Even the Minister of the Interior of Serbia, Bratislav Gasić, has stated that in accordance with the order he has ordered the full combat readiness of the police units.

"According to the order of the president and the commander-in-chief of the Army and Armed Forces of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, I have ordered the full combat readiness of all units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the gendarmerie and the police," Gasić said.

Vucic, as reported by the Serbian media, has raised the level of readiness "due to the situation in Kosovo".

Today is the 17th day since the Serbs in the north of Kosovo have set up barricades blocking the roads leading to the border points in Jarinje and Bërnjak. Journalists, policemen have been attacked, and there have even been attacks on EULEX and KFOR patrols.
