The Director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, said that the Government of Serbia on Monday made the decision that enables the freedom of movement for all vehicles from Kosovo, which was its obligation according to the 2011 Agreement reached between parties in the dialogue mediated by the European Union.
Until now, citizens of Kosovo have been allowed to enter Serbia with Kosovo license plates, only the part where RKS is written had to be covered with stickers.
Petkovic said that the decision will be implemented from January 1.
"This decision was actually our obligation from the 2011 Agreement on freedom of movement signed by Borko Stefanović, which refers to RKS license plates and Kosovo identity cards, the granting of Kosovo drivers' licenses," Petković is quoted as saying.
He said that the Government of Serbia is waiting for Kosovo to fulfill its obligations according to the Brussels Agreement, and not only that for the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.

"Today we enabled freedom of movement for all vehicles from Kosovo. This will be an added impulse not only for the 'Open Balkans', but it will make life easier for the Serbs in Kosovo... In fact, we helped them those who are able to move and live normally, because freedom of movement is necessary. Unlike Kurti, who violates freedom of movement, just as he violates the rights of Serbs in Kosovo every day," stated Petkovic.
He clarified that part of the decision is also a statement that clearly states that this decision does not mean recognition of Kosovo, namely it does not mean any support for its membership in the UN, as well as the organizations and agencies of the UN.
"The license plates that we allowed, like the identity cards a year ago, are not a symbol of citizenship," said Petkovic and recalled similar cases, such as in China and Hong Kong. He also mentioned Italy, where, according to him, different regions use different license plates.
Petkovic said that it is no longer a secret that 99 percent of Serbs use RKS license plates.
"They are also used by the monks and clergy of the Diocese of Raskë-Prizren, to reach their shrines and believers", he emphasized. "With this decision, we will enable our people to reach central Serbia faster and complete their tasks faster, as well as faster movement of ambulance vehicles, which is the most important thing," he said. Covering the symbols of Serbia, namely Kosovo, with white stickers was part of the agreement reached on September 30, 2021 with the mediation of the European Union.
