SBASHK: In 70 percent of schools, classes were not held at all

The United Union of Education, Science and Culture has said that in 70 percent of the schools in the country, lessons were not held this Saturday, according to the new school calendar established by the Ministry of Education, to compensate for the lost hours as consequence of the strike in September.

The SBASHK, in a press release, said that even in those schools that held classes, the number of students was very small.

This union has asked the Ministry of Education to hold an urgent meeting with representatives of the municipal directorates, the Parents' Council and the SBASHK to reach an agreement to compensate the hours in other forms.

"If this is not done, then we will have the same situation on other Saturdays and even more so on regular working days, the teaching process will not have a good flow due to the debates that will take place regarding the issue of hours and days lost in the strike", says the communiqué of the SBASHK.

In addition to the SBASHK, the Parents' Council has also come out against compensation for teaching on Saturdays.
