About 300 British troops have been temporarily deployed in Kosovo for joint training with KFOR troops, the NATO mission in Kosovo has announced.
KFOR's announcement states that UK personnel from the Royal Yorkshire Regiment will train from today until the end of October together with other KFOR troops.
"The aim of the exercises is to test the existing procedures for the landing of additional troops and their integration within the KFOR mission. The exercise supports KFOR's readiness to respond to relevant security developments in order to ensure continued implementation of our UN mandate – based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 – to contributed to a safe environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement at all times and in an impartial manner", announced KFOR during the day.
KFOR has said that after the end of the exercises, the contingent will return to the United Kingdom.

KFOR has announced in a press release that a contingent of 300 troops from the Royal Yorkshire Regiment of Great Britain will be temporarily stationed in Kosovo and will carry out a series of joint exercises with other KFOR troops.
"The aim of the exercises is to test the existing procedures for the landing of additional troops and their integration within the KFOR mission. The exercise supports KFOR's readiness to respond to relevant security developments in order to ensure continued implementation of our UN mandate – based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 – to contributed to a safe environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement at all times and in an impartial manner", announced KFOR.
KFOR has said that after the end of the exercises, the contingent will return to the United Kingdom.
"KFOR will take all measures to mitigate the effects on road traffic, which can be expected as a result of the movements of military personnel and vehicles before and during the exercises," KFOR said.
