At the conference on the energy situation in Kosovo, the acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, stated that there is talk of an "energy mafia" in the Balkans, but, according to her, no institution in Kosovo has any connection to it.
According to Rizvanolli, this mafia may exist in the Balkans and be headquartered in Belgrade.
"I haven't spoken about it because it's so irrelevant and baseless that I didn't think it was worth mentioning. Some people can't stop saying it. The energy mafia in the Balkans may exist, and may have its headquarters in Belgrade, but no Kosovo institution has any relationship, connection or contact with it, neither social nor business, nor anything. It's absurd to say it because those who accuse don't have a single shred of truth to what they say," said Rizvanolli.
According to the acting minister, those who accuse the "energy mafia" are spreading misinformation "for purposes that only they can know."
"We cannot expect them to be correct, but I ask you not to take for granted all the statements you read, but to refer to the official information from the responsible companies," she said.
Rizvanolli called reports that Kosovo was in an energy collapse "misinformation" and added that KEK was never without production.

She said that Kosovo has challenges in the energy sector.
"We have challenges in the energy sector, because the security of supply depends on the 62 and 42 year old power plants, because their rehabilitation has never been done. The reason why we do not have all the blocks by April is that for the first time, in Kosovo B we are modernizing the turbines and block 2 is out of operation, to carry out these for 6 months. This is a temporary, but necessary sacrifice and we must do it now because they did not do it in time, when import prices were three times cheaper", added the acting minister.
