Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, has announced that over the course of three years, the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) will export coal to North Macedonia worth 73.2 million euros.
According to her, the contract was signed for the first time between KEK and ESM.
The price of 24.4 Euros per ton, excluding VAT, is many times more favorable for KEK compared to past contracts made through intermediaries. For example, the last time Kosovo exported coal to North Macedonia, KEK sold the coal in an illegal tender at a price of only 8 Euros, including a royalty of 3 Euros and 18% VAT,” Rizvanolli wrote.
She added that electricity production in Kosovo is not affected by this contract.
"...since ESM is responsible for the excavation and transportation of the coal it will purchase," she added.
