The Democratic League of Kosovo has stated that the return of electricity reductions is clear evidence of the scandalous management of the energy sector in Kosovo.

Visar Azemi from LDK said that the current government has not invested a single cent in adding new energy capacities, while it has spent over 1 billion euros on importing electricity.

"To arrive at this absurd situation, there are only two possible explanations: either we are dealing with complete incompetence and mismanagement in governance, or we are dealing with the capture of the energy sector and organized theft by the energy mafia, which includes Martin Berishaj and Vuk Hamoviqi. Spending 1 billion euros of citizens' money on energy imports, and not investing a single euro in new production capacities that would serve future generations, is a harmful and irresponsible action towards the future of Kosovo," he said.

At the press conference, Azemi also criticized Vetëvendosje for party appointments. He said that Ejup Maqedonci's nephew was appointed to a leadership position at KOSTT.

"Those who used to say that family members are "only for weddings", today, in almost every appointment they make, are turning institutions into shelters for party and family appointments. The appointment of the nephew of Vetëvendosje MP Ejup Maqedonci as director of KOSTT speaks best of the capture of energy institutions in the country. This is the last link in the energy sector that has now completely fallen into the hands of the government. As far as I know, the one who was appointed director of KOSTT today is a co-owner of a private energy company", he declared.

Azemi has asked the justice institutions to launch immediate investigations into mismanagement in the energy sector. Also, with the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly, he added that LDK will demand a parliamentary investigation, an independent and complete audit of energy sales, as well as the departmentalization of energy institutions.
