The Chairman of the Municipal Assembly, Selajdin Troni, said that the sacrifice of the martyrs, the suffering of the martyrs, and the blood of innocent children can never be forgotten.

"One of the hardest and most painful days for Doganaj and Slatinë of Kaçanik. This day is an open wound in our collective memory, a living memory of the sacrifice, pain and resistance of our people. On this day, many sons and daughters of this country were unjustly separated from life, becoming martyrs and martyrs of freedom. They fell so that we can live freely today, they fell so that our flag can fly proudly, they fell so that our children can live in peace and dignity. But, today with special pain we also remember the innocent children who were killed on that black day, the children who did not manage to grow up, who did not manage to dream, who did not manage to live their newly begun lives. Their voice was unjustly silenced but their memory will live forever," he declared.

On behalf of the Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization, veteran Fahri Demnika said that the truth about the crimes committed in Kosovo should not be distorted or forgotten.

"On that dark day, the Serbian-Montenegrin military police forces exercised merciless violence against the innocent people, the villages of Sllatinë, Cakaj were attacked... that day 14 civilians were killed, who have now become martyrs. The dreams that were extinguished were premature, on that same day two fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army also fell heroically, not sparing their lives for freedom, while another was also wounded. Today we are not only here to remember them but also to testify that what happened will never be forgotten. We as veterans know the price of freedom, we know what it means to fight with sacrifice and unwavering faith, we know that every step towards freedom is washed with the blood of martyrs and martyrs. These people are not only a memory, they are also a legacy for generations to come", he said.

On this anniversary, amidst emotions, the son of the martyr, Vesel Elezi, Agoni, also spoke to the audience.

"Today I feel humbled and honored to remember the values of my father, Dr. Vesel Elezit, and the 18 men and boys of this village who gave the most valuable of our country - life. Remembering the new generations and the opportunities for our future," he said.

Also present at this commemorative event were family members of the martyrs, war veterans, and representatives of the municipality.
