Alliance MP Burim Ramadani said that the deadline for the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly expires tonight, even according to the Vetëvendosje Movement's own interpretation.

Ramadani said that according to the Constitutional Court's ruling, the Assembly should have been constituted by August 7.

But Vetëvendosje had said that the verdict states that the Assembly must convene within 30 days of the convening of the constitutive session. And this date expires tonight at 23:59.

Ramadani wrote in a Facebook post that this is a deliberate provocation.

"Not only was the constitutional interpretation of the deadline for the constitution of the Assembly not respected, but Vetëvendosje is not respecting its political interpretation of this deadline either. Therefore, the call for the continuation of the session for September 9 cannot be interpreted otherwise than as a deliberate provocation and as an action that produces institutional instability. The Assembly can only be constituted today. After tonight there is no more justification, no more interpretation and no more extra seconds. After today, there is no more constitutional, political, or moral deadline," Ramadani wrote on Facebook.

Ramadani also spoke in the Assembly hall today regarding this issue.

During his speech at the session, he said that the acting Prime Minister and leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, has decided to create institutional chaos and then steer the country towards elections.

He said that the chairman of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, "acted as Kurti's tool."

Ramadani said that the Alliance with PDK will act in defense of democracy.

"Continuously, since August 7, the deputies of the Vetevendosje Parliamentary Group have been in violation of the deputy's oath to protect constitutionality and legality in Kosovo. Kosovo has a democracy and must protect democracy. The Alliance, together with the PDK and all citizens who love Kosovo and the state of Kosovo, will act in defense of democracy, constitutionality and legality. In terms of the individuals who make up the Vetevendosje Parliamentary Group, all we can say is that we must pray for their freedom. They have no right to think, express themselves or act," said Ramadani.

The chairman of the constitutive session, the oldest MP Avni Dehari, announced on Friday that he has scheduled the continuation of the constitutive session for September 9 at 11:00.

The constitutional deadline for the constitution of the Assembly ended on August 7. The last session on this issue was held a day later, and its continuation has not been called since then.

The LDK and Vetëvendosje reached an agreement for university professor Bekim Sejdiu to be the joint presidential candidate. However, LDK MPs Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Kujtim Shala, Janina Ymeri, Armend Zemaj and Arben Gashi came out against the agreement.
