"The feasibility study and preliminary design for the national railway, Durrës-Pristina, with a length of 105 kilometers, 14 tunnels and 43 bridges, has been completed in cooperation with the Government of Kosovo. In the last meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, we also talked about two foreign financing avenues that we will explore together," said Prime Minister Rama.

According to Rama, the railway lines will be built respecting European Union standards as part of the goals to electrify the 530-kilometer stretch as planned.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama made these statements during the Presidency of the Assembly with the Socialist Parliamentary Group, where he spoke, among other things, about the projects implemented and those planned to be implemented during his mandate.

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, last month paid a visit to Kosovo where he met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and President Vjosa Osmani.

During the meeting with Kurti, the latter said that, among other things, they talked about infrastructure projects of common interest and new opportunities in this mandate of the two governments.

Last year, the feasibility study and concept design for the Durrës-Prishtina railway, also known as the "Red and Black" railway, was presented at a ceremony held in Shkodra.

According to the presented project, there will be nine passenger train trips that will run per day. If the train stops at every station, the full journey will be from Durres to Pristina in 5 hours and 54 minutes. While if it comes to regional trains that stop only at the main stations, the route will be shorter – three hours and 40 minutes.

The entire project was estimated at 1.8 billion euros.

As for the deadline, the most optimistic one is that in 10 years the first train will use this railway.
