The government warns that it will soon decide on Serbian license plates

The Government of Kosovo has warned that it will soon decide on allowing the circulation of cars with Serbian license plates on the territory of Kosovo without placing paper stickers.

The spokesperson of the Government, Përparim Kryeziu has stated that the Police is carefully monitoring the implementation of Serbia's decision on the circulation of cars with RKS license plates.

According to him, the Government's decision to allow cars with Serbian license plates, without stickers, to circulate in the territory of Kosovo will be taken on the basis of the principle of reciprocity and will be based on the analyzes and conclusions of the border police on the level and the applicability of the decision on the part of Serbia.

"Our border police is carefully monitoring the implementation of Serbia's decision on the circulation of cars with RKS license plates. As we said last week, our behavior and decision will be based on the principle of reciprocity and based on the analyzes and conclusions of the border police on the level of applicability on the part of Serbia. A decision is expected to be taken soon", Kryeziu stated to KOĖN.

On January 1, the implementation of the decision began, which enables freedom of movement for all vehicles from Kosovo going towards Serbia, without the obligation to cover the RKS inscription with adhesive paper.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, last week, has emphasized that he will make a decision to allow Serbian license plates, after making sure that the northern neighbor is fully and without obstacles implementing the decision that RKS license plates circulate freely in Serbia.

Covering the symbols of Serbia, namely Kosovo, with adhesive paper was part of the agreement reached on September 30, 2021, under the mediation of Brussels.
