The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in a press conference on Saturday presented the new financial package with which he said that the Government is trying to help the citizens to cope with inflation more easily. He has announced that from September 50 euros will be allocated to public officials for the remaining months of this fiscal year, while there will be a one-time payment of 100 euros for the workers of public enterprises.
From September, electricity is also expected to be subsidized for all those who save. It will be subsidized for the months in which citizens will spend less compared to the same months last year.
The Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, has taken an example. "For example, if 1000 kilowatt hours were spent last year in September and this year 900 kilowatts in September, it can be considered that a 10 percent saving has been made. For this percentage, we will support the 20 percent bill subsidy. Twice the savings made by the citizens", said Murati.
Pensioners will be allocated 100 euros once, while families on social assistance will receive double the amount of assistance for one month.
It has also pledged to support businesses that increase workers' wages "by subsidizing 50 percent of the wage increase for workers, a maximum of 100 euros for the first three months".
In November, 100 euros are expected to be allocated to students.
"We will allocate around 150 million euros for the package to deal with inflation", said Kurti.
Public sector workers are already on strike for a week. They have asked for an additional 100 euros per month until the approval and entry into force of the Salary Law.
Minister Murati has criticized the municipal level for not submitting the salary lists for the workers at the end of the month, after some of them went on strike. He said that "due to the difficult economic situation" it is possible to proceed with the prohibited salaries, but he warned that those who have prohibited the submission of lists of workers will face the law.
