The incumbent government has allocated 4 million 480 thousand euros for the salaries of Radio Television of Kosovo employees.

During the meeting on Thursday, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the allocation of funds was made from the savings category.

"This solution today is nothing more than a forced improvisation, after our continuous efforts to approve the budget for RTK in the Assembly," Kurti said.

RTK workers began a two-hour strike on Monday due to non-payment of salaries.

Murati: We received funds for RTK from the budget organization, other parties refused to vote on the budget

Acting Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, after the government meeting in a press conference, stated that they have allocated funds for the salaries of RTK employees, taking from other budgetary organizations due to the refusal of PDK, LDK, AAK and Nisma to vote for the establishment of the budget and finance committee in the Kosovo Assembly.

He said that the funds have not been allocated so far because their allocation had to be approved in the Assembly and according to Murat, the rejection came even though, according to him, there was no legal obstacle.

"Regarding the allocation of funds, it has been awaited until now because the Assembly had to approve it. PDK, LDK, AAK, Nisma, have categorically refused, despite the fact that there was no legal obstacle to them performing their duty, to establish a budget and finance committee in the Assembly of Kosovo, which is responsible for allocating funds to RTK. As a government, we have had to take funds from other budgetary organizations instead of taking the funds that are determined for RTK after the vote for the budget and finance committee," Murati declared.

Murati also spoke about the budget of the Municipality of Pristina, which he called a self-inflicted problem. The acting Minister of Finance stated at the press conference that the Municipalities of Gjilan and Zubin Potok have also had the same problem, but they have not entered into obligations without financial cover.

"I am glad that the farce that has been going on for several days is now coming to an end. Today, as far as I know, there is a meeting of the Pristina Municipal Assembly, which will allocate funds from its own revenues. This was a self-inflicted problem. It had nothing to do with the budget. The municipality had allocated the budget for goods and services. It was the budget overrun that caused the problem. It violated the law on budget allocations by entering into obligations without cover, by releasing funds for ticket payments and assuming obligations without having the budget. This did not happen with the Municipality of Gjilan and Zubin Potok, because these municipalities did not enter into obligations without financial cover," declared Murati.

Former Democratic League of Kosovo MP, Hykmete Bajrami, has called the acting Government's decision to allocate funds for the salaries of RTK employees as delayed and staged by the executive itself.

In a reaction on Facebook, Bajrami said that RTK workers were left without salaries for an entire month, forcing them to engage in protests and strikes, while in the end - according to her - the Government is presenting itself as a savior.

"They allocated funds for RTK. We have said it from day one: these people are the ones who create crises. They left RTK workers without salaries for a month, with protests and strikes, and in the end, not the Parliament, but these usurpers of the Government found a solution, 28 days late," Bajrami wrote.

She accused the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti of, as she said, artificially creating crises in order to later appear as a savior.

"Albin Kurti and his clique live by causing crises, making people suffer, keeping citizens dependent on his decisions, and then appearing as saviors, but the masks fell off," she wrote.

Bajrami demanded that the Government stop, as she called it, the blockades and find solutions for the Municipality of Pristina as well.

"Stop the blockades, now sit down with the Municipality of Pristina and find a solution! Citizens pay taxes to receive services, not to be mistreated by your staging and deceptions," said Bajrami.

Finally, she warned that citizens will provide answers on December 28th.

"December 28th will be the day when you will receive the answer for all this mistreatment you are inflicting on citizens," Bajrami wrote.

At today's meeting, the acting Government allocated over 4 million euros for the salaries of RTK employees.
