The Government of Kosovo has taken a new decision related to the housing of Afghans in the country. According to the announcement by the Government, after the 28th meeting, held online, temporary protection will be offered to a special group determined by the US Department of State, in addition to those who are in the process of applying for Special US Visas -'s.
"According to the decision adopted today, in addition to persons who are in the process of applying for a Special Immigrant Visa (Special Immigrant Visa) of the United States of America, temporary and immediate protection will also be offered to qualified persons under group P2 "(special classification defined by the US State Department as Priority 2), including the families of these two groups", it is said in the announcement.
Eligible individuals for this group are Afghans who have worked or are working for the US Government, US military forces, for programs funded by the US Government, Afghans who have worked for US-based media organizations or non-governmental organizations.
On August 16, the Government of Kosovo decided to offer temporary and immediate protection to persons endangered by the internal conflict in Afghanistan, following the request of the United States of America. By decision, assistance was offered to citizens who were in the process of applying for special visas for the USA.
It has not yet been announced how many Afghans will be accepted in Kosovo, however the institutions have declared that they are ready to accommodate them.
