The governments of Kosovo and Albania are not expected to meet this year either, due to disagreements

The prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and that of Albania, Edi Rama, are not expected to attend joint meetings of the governments they lead in the near future.

While the Government of Albania has not answered the questions regarding the next meeting, the Government of Kosovo said that no date has been set for a joint meeting.

"The ministries of both countries continue the regular cooperation in the implementation of the tasks defined by the previous agreements and regularly discuss to advance the cooperation in the future processes. Until now, no time has been set for the joint meeting", declared Përparim Kryeziu, spokesperson of the Government.

The meeting of the two governments failed to be held in June of last year, after the cancellation of participation by Prime Minister Rama, due to differences in attitudes with Prime Minister Kurti.

Although the meeting was not held, Kosovo and remote Albania signed dozens of agreements, most of which, according to the Government spokesman, Përparim Kryeziu, have been implemented.

"The level of implementation of bilateral agreements between the two governments is significantly higher than in the past, when relations between Kosovo and Albania were more limited by the level of personal relations between the heads of government. Today we have more trade exchanges than in the past. Albania is our main trading partner in the region. Thanks to the cooperation with Albania, we are organizing the 2030 Mediterranean Games. We have become part of the Albanian electricity exchange ALPEX. We have more special cross-border crossings and simplified border crossing procedures, thanks to the signing and implementation of border protocols. The already known disagreements regarding regional policies, namely the Open Balkans, have not presented any obstacles in the bilateral inter-ministerial and intergovernmental cooperation, which is centered on the good of the citizens of the two countries. This is the most important thing for us", he added.

The political analyst from Albania, Agim Baci, has assessed the lack of communication between the two leaders as disturbing.

According to him, Prime Minister Rama and Prime Minister Kurti have an obligation to find a solution, while holding the meetings of the two governments is necessary.

"Kurti and Rama come and go, but Albania and the Albanians of Kosovo remain. I think that Mr. "Rama must implement the Constitution in relation to the responsibility he has in relation to necessarily being involved in any agreement and not go to Brussels or Washington and tell him what the idea is for Kosovo and ignore Kurti's opinion," said Baci.

Kosovo and Albania have held eight joint meetings. Despite the cancellation of last year's meeting, the respective ministries signed 13 agreements in various fields a few weeks later. Besides them, Kosovo and Albania also have 41 agreements signed from the previous meetings.
