ECAP certifies Serbian List

Serbian list

The Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) has reversed the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and certified the Serbian List for the early elections on December 28.

On December 2, the CEC did not certify the Serbian List for the early elections. It did the same in the parliamentary elections on February 9 and the local elections on October 12. As in the previous two cases, in this latest one, the largest Serb party in Kosovo complained to the ECAP. And the ECAP again ruled in its favor.

In the decision published on December 5, the ECAP said that the CEC's decision is illegal and unconstitutional.

"The CEC's decision is in violation of Articles 31 and 45 of the Constitution, as well as in violation of Articles 16, 17, 26, 27 and 30 of the Law on General Elections. The CEC is ordered to confirm the political entity Serbian List in accordance with the Law on General Elections," it is stated in the ECAP decision.

At Tuesday's meeting at the CEC, two members of the Vetëvendosje Movement opposed the certification of the Serbian List, while the chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi and the Serbian member voted in favor. Meanwhile, the other seven members abstained.
