The ruling party and opposition parties clashed on Saturday in an extraordinary session over Vetëvendosje's request for a review of the 2026 Budget Law.

Initially, Arbërie Nagavci, head of the VV Parliamentary Group, proposed evading procedural deadlines, describing the law as extremely necessary.

The issue was immediately criticized by the opposition. The leader of the Democratic Party, Bedri Hamza, said that this is a sign that the government is taking actions that lead the country towards elections.

"There was no intention or serious action in good faith to give the country functional stability. This is not a review... I have never seen anything like this, nor will I. What this is saying is, give us the opportunity to abuse public money. Simply put, buy votes," he said, indicating that the PDK does not support it.

Besian Mustafa of the Democratic League said that due to "failure to follow procedures, the LDK will vote against." Meanwhile, the other MP from this entity, Avdullah Hoti, said that it is a matter of "abuse of public money."

Besnik Tahiri, head of the AAK Parliamentary Group, has described the review in this way as an institutional crime. He said that it is a "serious experiment with the state."

Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, has said that the review only affects the Ministry of Finance and that it includes the support package for citizens.

"If you think that citizens should be supported in this situation aggravated by the war in the Persian Gulf, then you should support this package so that we can come to the aid of citizens," he said.
