Private sector workers ask the Government to open its eyes to their demands

The Federation of Private Sector Workers 'Trade Union of Kosovo (FSSPK) has organized a protest on the occasion of May 1 - International Workers' Day.

Dozens of workers have appeared before the Government of Kosovo, with calls to appreciate their work and efforts, and have also asked the Government to sign a collective agreement.

Among other demands is that the application of health insurance should start as soon as possible and the labor court should be established.

Trade unionist Adem Borovci has said that throughout the period they asked to be respected, but this is not happening.

He said that according to an international report, Kosovo is the worst in terms of respecting workers' rights.

"The owners of the companies behave as if we are shock absorbers. The pandemic also affected our salaries. We also have a tripling of the cost of living", he said.

Meanwhile, the head of the Union of Private Workers, Jusuf Azemi, said that today they came out to submit the demands that they had submitted a year ago.

He said that the union did the impossible, fought for everyone, fought in the Government, but emphasized that this Government, which promised them miracles, did nothing.

"Prime Minister and private company, we know that you have smeared us, but good days are coming as you will need us. You have come to a point where you are paying reserve workers as everyone is fleeing Kosovo. Everyone who is going out and has no intention of coming back. The Prime Minister does not hold private companies with 23 inspectors. We asked for the trust, but our parliamentarians said that we don't need it, they don't know our situation", he said.
