Postal workers complain about non-payment of wages and the competition for new workers

The workers of the Kosovo Post, through a letter addressed to the temporary board of directors and the Chief Executive Officer, have complained about the non-payment of salaries and the opening of the competition for new workers.

In the "Postieri" letter, it is emphasized that the appointment of the new board has been enthusiastically received by the company's workers, "but so far nothing good has happened which is worth mentioning, on the contrary".

"Without any real analysis or any concrete project, BiD took the (illegal) decision to reduce ('leveling') the salaries for a part of the workers (grades 8-17), thus causing many dissatisfactions. Not to stop there, Posta e Kosova, until today when we are writing this letter, 22.01.2021, has not yet realized the salaries for a large part of the workers (grades 6-17), while at the same time, Kosovo Post has opened a public competition for the employment of 35 new workers (we still need consultations, if legally the Temporary Board and UD.EK have the right to make such a decision and if the Prime Minister has canceled his previous decision on non-opening of contests in public enterprises)", says the reaction of "Postieri".

This union has said that it is not against new hires, but "it is feared that in the absence of new projects, the current financial situation of the company will worsen even more".

According to her, the pre-campaign competition can also be interpreted as political employment.

On Thursday, the acting chief executive of the Kosovo Post, Xhevdet Smakiqi, also complained about the poor financial situation at the Post Office.
