Due to the non-payment of salaries for education workers in Viti, the presidents and heads of trade union associations from the schools of this municipality protested on Friday in front of the Government of Kosovo.
"Even Vitia is in Kosovo", "We want our salaries", were the inscriptions on the banners of the protesters, who demanded that the salaries be executed today (Friday), or at the latest on Monday, otherwise this municipality will start union action from next week.
The president from the United Trade Union for Education, Science and Culture (SBAShK), Rrahamn Jasharaj has said that the teachers are innocent in this regard, while he has called on the Government to start with the execution of salaries.
Jasharaj has emphasized that from what he saw in the meeting from the heads of the associations, they are very revolted and the next week may find Vitina on strike.
"We had a meeting this week with the Assembly of Pre-University Education Unions of the Year and the teachers were reasonably outraged and demanded radical, union action. I am asking them to wait a little and go with the first action with the current alarm, with this protest, but from what I have seen in the meeting of the heads of the associations, they are very revolted and the next week may find Vitia on strike . And what we always do, solidarity, I'm afraid that if the strike happens in Viti, then there will be union actions in other municipalities as well, which will be, each municipality decides, but Viti, our colleagues know, but also the Government know that education workers in Viti have their voice that protects them, SBAShK. Yesterday I sent a letter to Murat, begging him to leave the position he has as Minister of Finance to the statements about who is to blame, the teachers are not to blame. From today, let the Government process the salaries, otherwise it will start with Viti", he said.

On the other hand, the chairman of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo, Atdhe Hykolli, also participated in this protest, who called on the government to execute the salaries of the teachers of Vitia Municipality.

The announcement states that, despite the fact that the salary budget is allocated to cover expenses for the entire year, as a result of enforcement cases, some municipalities have already started to have a budget deficit in the salary category. Meanwhile, they added that the only Municipality that has not made this adjustment is Vitia, which has left primary and secondary education programs without a sufficient budget for the execution of September salaries./KP
