(Ekonomia Online) - A large number of nurses protested in front of the Ministry of Health, demanding the continuation of contracts, reports Ekonomia Online.
The nurses who were hired for the needs of the pandemic have placed their work coats in the Ministry of Health facility.
Egzon Seferi said that they are asking for the contract to be extended as a sign of gratitude, but that they have been told that there is a surplus of nurses.
"We asked for our contracts to be continued as a kind of gratitude, especially in pandemic conditions, we were even legally entitled to daily wages, but we never asked for it. But the secretary's response was to shut us up by saying that there is a surplus of nurses. He fired us and didn't tell us anything," he said.
Linda Mustafa also said that they will meet with the director of SHSKUK, Valbon Krasniq, and will submit the petition they collected together with the nurses, EO reports.
Nurse Enlirat Duraku, who came out in support of the protesters, said that these nurses have been discriminated against and that we should be eternally grateful for the work they have done.
"My position regarding this protest is that they have been discriminated against, for me it is absurd, I feel moral to say that we are eternally grateful to these workers who have helped us, and the work they have done", said Duraku.
The day before, they also protested in front of the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the KKUK.
While the MOH clarified through a communique that the nurses were employed with contracts for six months.
The MOH further said that they were financed through a loan from the World Bank, as part of the emergency project for the management of the pandemic in Kosovo.
