Publicist Fatos Lubonja has described the protests in Albania against the investment in Zvërnec - dubbed the "Flamingo Revolution" - as an unusual movement in Albanian history. He has compared these current ones to those of the 1990s against communism.
He stated that to stop investments that harm Albania, protests must be held until the resignation of Edi Rama's government.
"To save this Albania, it is worth two more years to stay in that protest, not sleeping but going out there every day until the resignation of this government that has committed endless atrocities is realized," he said on Interaktiv.
Lubonja emphasized that the mobilization of citizens is different from the usual political protests that have been organized in the country over the years. As he said, the cause of this protest is "to save Albania from a massacre and robbery by a political and economic class in collaboration with organized crime."
"I don't see it as one of the next protests that have been organized in Albania, if we take into account the protests that the opposition has held or others, this is a protest perhaps unprecedented in the history of Albanians for a long time, I can probably even remember the fall of communism in the 90s when there were strong protests," he emphasized.
Lubonja has criticized the parties that have led Albania, holding both Sali Berisha, the former prime minister, and Edi Rama, the current prime minister, responsible for misgovernment.
