The Commission for Public Administration, Local Government and Media has once again changed the coefficients for teachers, but again not to affect the demands of the strikers.
In a new draft, which was worked on during the weekend, and which was provided by Kohavisioni, it shows an increase in the coefficients, even in relation to what Haradinaj had presented in an extraordinary press conference, after the meeting with the leaders of SBASHK.
In the original Law on Salaries, the coefficient for secondary school teachers was 2.3, which, when translated into a salary based on the value of a coefficient of 239 euros, means that the salary of this level of teachers would be around 550 euros. In Haradinaj's proposal on Sunday, this salary was proposed at 597 euros. It was rejected by the trade unionists. The Commission has decided not to change this proposal, and as such it will go to the Administration Commission of the Assembly of Kosovo. So, eventually the Government raises this coefficient only to 2.5, which translates into 597 euros in salary.
In the initial Law, the Government had categorized all teachers in the primary cycle in coefficient 2, or translated into a salary of 478 euros. In Haradinaj's proposal, this salary was expected to increase to 525, which meant an increase in the coefficient to 2.2. The new proposal has divided this category into two. For lower secondary school teachers (6-9), it has been raised to 2.35, or about 560 euros, while for the lower secondary school teacher category (1-5), it has been left at 2.2, i.e. 525 euros.
In the category of teachers in the preschool system, the Law proposed a coefficient of 1.9, or 454 euros translated into salary. Haradinaj had proposed the increase to 501 euros, or 2.1 with the coefficient. In the new proposal, this has increased to 2.15 or about 515 euros.
The position of educator has gone to 1.9, from 1.7 as it was with the first proposal.
